ELLIE'S WAY COMMENT POLICY

Welcome to the Ellie’s Way website. This site is designed for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one. The site is offered as part of our volunteer outreach by Ellie’s Way, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are a peer-to-peer, all volunteer organization. We are not professional counselors.

MISSION

Provide comfort, encouragement, and hope to the grieving.

VISION

Love Jesus and people as we build a healthy and compassionate worldwide community that walks together on the journey of grief.

VALUES

  1. Welcome everyone to our no judgement zone.
  2. Understand that together we are not alone.
  3. Treat everyone with respect, compassion, grace, integrity, and humanity.
  4. Provide sparks of joy and hope.
  5. Remember “Comparison is the death of joy.” - Mark Twain
  6. Helping others is healing.
  7. Unite as one extended Ellie’s Way family.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

VOLUNTEER ADMINS AND MODERATORS

We have zero tolerance for any disrespect toward our volunteers. They follow the guidelines and rules that have been set forth for this site. If you feel you have been treated unfairly, please message Ellie’s Way with your complaint along with a copy of the comment exchange. Our volunteers will use their discretion when removing people or posts.

RECOMMENDED PRACTICES

Please comment and interact. We are here to give and receive encouragement and support. Share experiences. How have you felt? What has been helpful to you? How did you manage? Comment with honesty, kindness, and respect for other people’s feelings and points of view. Do not compare your loss with another type of loss. Everyone is in pain and comparisons are not helpful.

"SCROLL ON BY" POLICY

If something offends, hurts, surprises, or triggers a response, please just “scroll on by." Let's not judge others or leave opinions that could be hurtful. What bothers one may not bother another. Let’s remember that both positive and negative words are out there forever. Remember to de-escalate any disagreements or problems. Assume good intentions, apologize if possible, and then move on from any conflict. Please do not join a thread that is having any kind of trouble. We want to be a community of ENCOURAGERS!

THE FOLLOWING ARE ENCOURAGED!

  • Sharing about your loved one (stories and memories, etc.)
  • Questions about grief and loss
  • Sharing your grief experiences, coping ideas, and what you've learned
  • Prayer requests
  • Encourage each other and engage in real connections

THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT ALLOWED!

  • Soliciting funds
  • No selling products or services
  • Links to other groups, websites, blogs, charities, psychics
  • Personal information (phone, address, etc.)
  • Copyrighted material without permission from author/owner
  • God bashing. Discussing faith issues and questions is fine, but keep in good taste
  • Offensive comments, personal attacks, and profanity

Notify Ellie's Way and we will immediately remove these posts. We want to honor and remember ALL of our lost loved ones.
